Cartoon Coach

Cartoon Coach

Saturdays, 10am-1pm

10:00-11:00 – Ages 7-9

11:15-12:15 – Ages 9-11

12:30-1:30 – Ages 12-14

Cartoon Coach is an ongoing discipline supported by the repetition of classical drawing foundations, reinforcement of strong drawing habits and the principals of drawing for cartoons and animation used by professionals from Steam Boat Willie to Coco.

Every week the lesson moves forward while the artists learns and re-learns these elements. Think of Music, the musician learns a scale and returns to that scale often with their instructor weather it is to practice that scale, incorporate it into a melody or alter it to learn a variation of that scale. Drawing for cartoons and animation is really no different. When the artists learns the basic construction of the head, that lesson is repeated with the addition of facial expressions, the squash and stretch of the jaw or explore stereotypical facial features. This means, that a young artist can start in the class at any time. During their first 8 weeks, they will touch on enough foundations and elements to allow them to follow along at the same speed as the rest of the class.
