New Resident Curator at Artscape Youngplace

Artscape is pleased to announce the appointment of Karie Liao as the inaugural Resident Curator at Artscape Youngplace. Karie will bring to life the 2014 programming vision for the Artscape Youngplace Hallway Galleries, working in collaboration with the Artscape Youngplace Curatorial Advisory and Artscape staff. This will involve commissioning new art works exploring a thematic artistic project throughout the year, building partnerships with local artists and organizations for dynamic exhibitions, and hosting a slate of public events encouraging cross-pollination between artists and community members. The Hallway Galleries are open to the public year-round, free of charge, and span more than 9,000 square feet of spectacular corridor and stairwell space throughout the building.

“The West Queen West neighbourhood is rich with art and culture and I look forward to contributing a fresh approach with the artistic programming at Artscape Youngplace as we showcase and commission projects that celebrate experimentation and new perspectives, encourage collaborations between artists and community members, and foster the exchange of ideas and skills within our community,” said Karie Liao.
