Intergalactic Arts Collective member Simla Civelek presents a new performance that examines passing time and the solitary act of remembering.
Simla Civelek (b. 1974, Istanbul, Turkey) is a Toronto based performance artist.
She creates performances that explore alienation, indulgence, memory and examine time’s relativity to emotions. Using the pretext of theatricality, she aims to create a disguise in which representation and reality are juxtaposed and played off each other.
Her work has been presented at the FADO Performance Art Centre, 7a*11d International Festival of Performance Art, SAVAC, Nuit Blanche in Toronto, Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, B.C., and OPEN Performance Art Festival in Beijing, China among other venues.
