In this workshop you will learn all about monoprinting – a fun, exciting and spontaneous process. A drawing and/or painting is made on a non-porous surface such as plastic or metal and transferred to a sheet of paper using pressure. From here, you will explore gestural strokes, painterly marks and textures from found objects. We’ll show you how to achieve interesting textures and images by piecing together different materials, layering colours and using various tools.
Non-toxic materials such as water-based inks and soy-based Akua inks will be used. All prints will be made on our Praga intaglio press with the option of using a hand barren as well.
Participants will leave with at least five 11 x 15” monoprints.
All materials will be provided, however you are encouraged to bring any found materials you wish to collage and incorporate into the prints.
