October 2, 2014 @ 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm

Please RSVP to ginger@torontoartscape.on.ca | 416.530.2787 x225

Come find out about the programs and resources available for teachers at the newly opened Artscape Youngplace! Spend the afternoon with a range of artists and organizations, experience guided tours, hands-on workshops and information sessions, and enjoy a social wine-and-cheese – all showcasing what you and your class can do here in the year ahead.

Artscape Youngplace is a community cultural hub located in Toronto’s West Queen West neighbourhood, with 75,000 square feet of space devoted to artistic inspiration, learning, growth and expression. The facility opened in 2013 after a major renovation and community consultation process. The artists and organizations inside the building represent a vibrant mix of art forms and cultural mandates and provide many programs and events to enjoy.

On this special afternoon for teachers you can:

  • Visit the Koffler Gallery’s new exhibition space
  • Hear about the curatorial projects happening at TYPOLOGY’S project gallery
  • Create paper from organic materials at Paperhouse Studio
  • Learn the art of letterpress with Graven Feather
  • Learn about 3D printing/scanning for the education in 3 Delta Studio
  • Meet artists offering a range of artistic workshops (that can also travel to your classroom!)

Hands-on activities and information sessions will showcase potential experiences for students and equip teachers with a few new hands-on skills to apply in the classroom. Tours will go on throughout the afternoon.

Information on programs and opportunities will be available for a range of grade levels. Pre-school/kindergarten, elementary and high school teachers as well as college/university professors, after-care leaders and art camp instructors are all welcome!
