Mary Tremonte is an MFA candidate in OCAD University’s Interdisciplinary Masters in Art Media and Design program. She works primarily in silkscreen printing, activated through dance parties and pedagogical activities, a practice she often refers to as “printing in the expanded field.” This exhibition includes an installation of silkscreen printed mirrors, a DJ booth, and hand-stitched silkscreen printed snuggies. During the course of the exhibition, Tremonte will host several discursive programs, including a silkscreen printing workshop, a discussion on intersections between contemporary anarcha-feminisms and queer theory, and a daytime tea dance. These activities will both activate and add to the exhibition, which will end with a closing reception and publication release on Saturday April 12. Stay tuned for event details, and contact Mary for more information.
To help maintain community safety and contain the spread of COVID-19, Artscape has temporarily closed its community cultural hub facilities to the public and cancelled all Artscape-led in-person programming. We are monitoring public health and government recommendations regarding the reopening of non-essential businesses and public gatherings to guide our decision on a re-opening date.
Meanwhile, we welcome you to attend our free virtual programming through Launchpad Learning Online. See What’s On.
Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon!
While numerous professional associations have created their own COVID-19 resource guides, Artscape’s compilation focuses on a collection of financial resources and supports to help creatives across all of our communities navigate this situation.
