Buttonhole binding is a simple and fun form of bookmaking with lots of potential to house your journals, sketchbooks and book projects. The buttonhole stitch is a beautiful binding that allows a repetitive wrapping of the spine at the head and tail, echoing the vertical folds of the exposed sections. Forming a bead with this stitch tightens the wrapping and also gives a beautiful decorative element – making this technique very special. In this class we will learn to cut and prepare our covers and sections to sew together a book. It can have any number of sections and can be made with a variety of cover materials.
Participants will leave with at least one handmade blank notebook and instructions on how to create more at home. We will provide everything you need from thread to paper!
