Vancouver-based artist Adad Hannah has earned an international reputation for his video-recorded tableaux vivants that often reference art history and paradigms of museum practices. In this new body of work, Hannah shifts focus to his personal history, re-animating a “frozen moment” captured eighteen years before he was born. Positioning for the first time a family member as collaborator rather than as subject or model, Hannah pushes his practice deeper than ever into the exploration of the most popular genre of photography – the family snapshot. Presented as a Featured Exhibition in the 2014 Scotiabank CONTACT Photography Festival.
To help maintain community safety and contain the spread of COVID-19, Artscape has temporarily closed its facilities to the public and cancelled all Artscape-led programming. We will be monitoring public health and government recommendations regarding the reopening of non-essential businesses and public gatherings to guide our decision on a re-opening date.
Stay safe and we look forward to seeing you soon!
While numerous professional associations have created their own COVID-19 resource guides, Artscape’s compilation focuses on a collection of financial resources and supports to help creatives across all of our communities navigate this situation.
