Artscape Youngplace is pleased to announce our newest roster of Resident Teachers, each hosting a fantastic slate of classes over the course of the year in the Artscape Flex Studios.  These classes encourage our community to connect, learn and create, and feature multiple artistic disciplines, skill levels, and price points. Classes will be posted on the Classes section of the website and on our Facebook page as they are available for registration up.  Check back often!

Purple carrots are unique and perfect… just as they are!  Purple Carrots Drama Studio is a place where students of all learning abilities feel safe and encouraged to explore communication, creativity, and connection. Siblings are welcome to register, too.

INTEGRATED CIRCUIT: Bodies and Technologies
Monthly, starting on Thursday, June 4

Zach will lead a monthly drop-in lecture series that will explore how technology is exponentially changing the way we communicate and represent ourselves. Using both popular culture and contemporary art as a lens to critically examine these changes, attendees will gain insight into an array of key topics, including cybernetics, post humanism, surveillance and online performance.

Does your child like to build gizmos, create new universes, mix up potions? Our workshop gives 8-11yr. old kids a chance to experiment with ideas and materials to design a different invention every week. Testers, prodders, investigators and experimenters welcome!

Performance Art Workshop: Between Intimacy and Architecture, Subtle and Relational Performance in Public Place
July 10 – 12, 2015

How do we listen to each other? How do we interact? How do we respond to the landscape around us? How do we engage with time and space? Cultivating attentive awareness, empathetic presence and peripheral vision, through exercises and constructed situations/performance presentations, this performance art workshop will explore the multiple and very personalized ways in which we experience and foster intimacy and connection – in ourselves, towards others, and in relation to place.

Open to children ages 7 to 12, this visual arts program will explore the ways we can take art out of the classroom and into the world in exciting ways using a range of fun and unusual materials.

Performance Art Lab and Ensemble Improvisation

Performance Art Lab is an 8-week workshop to consider concepts involved in making performance art by engaging participants in looking at and discussing the work of various artists, active participation in simple exercises, and refining the interests of participants leading to a workshop showing.  Ensemble Improvisation is an investigation into creating a physical performance piece together.  It offers participating artists an ongoing practice to work together to see what develops from weekly movement research and skill development in group awareness, making proposals, support of initiations, elements of composition, integrating voice, and observing each other.

The Life Rescripted Academy – Rescripting Empowerment, Intimacy & Success
June 30, July 7 and July 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm
Flex Studios

The workshops will help individuals to explore the narratives that shape their lives, and offer opportunities to rescript those narratives to transform their self-image, close relationships and careers.

Sheniz will offer unique creative writing workshops that will encourage participants to experiment with poetry and prose in an environment that is supportive, engaging and of course, fun!

Workshops will include nature walks, mandala making, collaborative creations and much more.
